Ko Bulon Leh

Ko Bulon Leh is a small island of approximately 3 square kilometres in Satun Province, lying about 22 kilometres from Pak Bara Pier in Langu District near the edge of the Tarutao National Marine Park. The island has remained largely free of commercial development, with local families operating nearly all accommodation and transport services.

Ko Bulon Leh has no cars and very limited road infrastructure, with the island traversable on foot from end to end in about 20 minutes. Electricity supply outside a small number of resorts with generators is limited to evening hours, reinforcing the island's off-grid character. The island's beaches, including the main White Sand Beach on the western shore, are backed by casuarina trees and face calm, clear water ideal for snorkelling over coral gardens close to shore. Ko Bulon is often cited as a model for small-island sustainable tourism in Thailand, as its relative inaccessibility and community ownership of tourism assets have slowed the overdevelopment seen on Ko Lipe nearby. The island is reachable by longtail boat or speedboat from Pak Bara Pier, with services running primarily during the November-to-April dry season.
