Province
Chon Buri
Chon Buri is an eastern Thailand province on the Bay of Bangkok, home to the resort city of Pattaya and Laem Chabang, Thailand's primary deep-sea port. The province is a cornerstone of the Eastern Economic Corridor, blending heavy industry with some of Thailand's most visited beaches.
Chon Buri province borders Chachoengsao to the north, Rayong to the east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the west, with the Khao Khiao mountain range stretching through its interior. Its registered population exceeds 1.6 million, with a substantial additional floating population of migrant workers and long-stay expatriates. The provincial capital shares the name Chon Buri and sits on a low-lying coastal plain roughly 80 km south-east of Bangkok. Beyond Pattaya's famous beach strip, the province encompasses family-friendly destinations such as Nong Nooch Tropical Garden and the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo. Laem Chabang handles the majority of Thailand's container trade, making Chon Buri one of the most economically productive provinces in the country.
