Samut Songkhram

Samut Songkhram is bordered by Samut Sakhon to the east, Ratchaburi to the north and west, and Phetchaburi to the south. The Mae Klong River, originating in Kanchanaburi, ends its journey in a swampy delta here before emptying into the northwestern shore of the Gulf of Thailand. The province's extensive canal network irrigates orchards producing lychee, pomelo, and coconut, and the waterways remain a central part of daily life and tourism. Amphawa Floating Market, operating on weekend evenings, is famous for boat-based seafood dining and firefly-watching boat tours at dusk. Don Hoi Lot sandbar at the river mouth is known for its endemic population of Solen regularis razor clams. The province, known locally as Mae Klong, has a population of around 195,000 — making it Thailand's least populous province.
