Sing Buri
Sing Buri is one of Thailand's smallest central provinces, situated on the flat Chao Phraya River plain between Nakhon Sawan and Ang Thong. It is celebrated for the heroic village of Bang Rachan, whose residents famously resisted Burmese forces in 1767 before the fall of Ayutthaya.
Sing Buri covers just 822 square kilometres and is bordered by Nakhon Sawan and Lopburi to the north and northeast, Ang Thong to the south, Suphan Buri to the west, and Chai Nat to the northwest. The province lies almost entirely on flat alluvial land, with the highest point barely 17 metres above sea level, making it ideal for rice cultivation. The Bang Rachan memorial, honouring eleven village leaders who organized resistance against Burmese forces in the Ayutthaya Kingdom's final years, draws pilgrims and visitors year-round. Wat Phra Non Chaksi in Sing Buri city contains a revered reclining Buddha image 58 metres in length. The province is divided into six districts with a population of around 210,000.
